Okay Victoria ... so what does a Wedding MC do?
                                                                                     Glad you asked...
So much time and money spent on wedding professionals to ensure your dream reception
is in place; then you hand the reins over to an amateur ... you'd have to wonder why?
Victoria has been trained and mentored by "MC of the Year" Peter L. Miller

Add to that over 25 years as a speaker, facilitator and trainer and you have a polished, professional presenter who knows how to relate to your guests and make your reception flow smoothly, just as you planned.

The first step is to meet with you, the bride and groom, to find out your personal requirements: such as what I can do to make your reception unique, intimate, relaxing and enjoyable.

Wedding receptions have a traditional blueprint that has worked for generations. You may decide on a different format. Just keep in mind there are many obligations that must be recognised and honoured.

A good Wedding MC arrives an hour before the guests do.  This time is spent checking the AV is in good working order, introducing myself to the venue's function manager, the DJ, the photographer and video person and the entertainers, if any.  Other seemingly minor details are also attended to, such as checking the location of the gift table, the light dimmer, the rest rooms and understanding how the guests will know where they are sitting as well as synchronising music selections with the DJ.

When the bridal party arrives, I greet them and check if drinks and appetisers are needed as well as confirm the order of entry into the reception - and correct pronunciation of names.

Taking a final check to ensure the photographer and video person are ready it is now time for the MC's opening speech.

If required, Grace is said, lights are lowered for dinner and that is when I will give a copy of the order of speeches to each speaker.

The speeches are one of the highlights of the reception and the Wedding MC is instrumental in ensuring the smooth flow and timing of this segment.  The introduction to speech time requires an enthusiastic and elegant delivery, setting a good example for all those to follow.

After the speeches and sharing of special messages, the cake cutting is followed by the bridal waltz, after which I invite guests to share the floor with you.

As the end of the reception approaches, I will make an announcement for the last songs then check for the arrival of the get-away car. The bouquet is collected, lights are dimmed and we wait, with great excitement, to see who will catch your bridal bouquet.

You may have chosen to have the 'garter ceremony' and the 'circle', or 'guard of honour'  before you leave for the next phase of your wondrous day.

Finally, I will bid everyone a fond goodnight and a safe journey home.

Being your Wedding MC is many things, and not everything is noted here - I must have some secrets.  I represent you and it is my job to smoothly ensure your reception dreams and expectations come true: because I can!
